Kakavecos steps up as Girls’ soccer heads to championships

Freshman Amelia Kakavecos brings the ball back into play.

For the second year in a row Brown County girl’s soccer team has won their division and have made it to the championship. They will be facing Sullivan High School again this year. Although BCHS lost to them last year, Coach David Phelps said, “I have a game plan for Sullivan. We are going to do it a little differently than we did in the past and hopefully we’ll come out with a win”.

With a team stacked with 10 seniors and fresh talent in the freshman class, they are strong competitors for Sullivan. With a couple of players coming off of injuries and having to travel to Sullivan, the team faces some obstacles. One Freshman in particular, Amelia Kakavecos, has surprised her coach and teammates with her talent and handwork.  Kakavecos states “I’m a little nervous, but I have been working really hard lately”. The Eagles have had a shaky non-conferece season with 1 win and 6 losses but went 3-0 in their conference.

The championship will be Saturday September 23rd
