Indy Car season on track to engage fans

The IndyCar Racing Season ended back in September, but the racing community is anything but slow this off-season. The series has been bustling with preparations for the 2019 Season, as well as preparing for the 2019 Indianapolis 500, by hosting a series of events engaging fans and getting them motivated to buy tickets.

One huge motivator for fans to buy tickets for this year’s Indianapolis 500 is the return of Formula 1 Champion Fernando Alonso. Alonso raced in the 2017 Indianapolis 500, starting in the second row and leading several laps; many fans believed Alonso would have won the race, until his Honda engine failed on lap 180.

Now, fans are rejoicing at the news of Alonso returning to the famed Brickyard, attempting to win the highest honor in all of racing, the three Triple Crown races of Motorsports. Only one man, Graham Hill, has won all three of the Triple Crown races, which consist of the Monte Carlo Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Indianapolis 500. Currently, only two people in the world could win the Triple Crown, Former Indycar driver and two time Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya, and Fernando Alonso. Both of whom have won two out of the three races, however, only Alonso is currently pursuing the Triple Crown glory.

Other important IndyCar news includes the revealing of the Borg Warner trophy with Will Power’s likeness on it. Power, who races for Team Penske, won the 2018 Indianapolis 500 and made an appearance Wednesday at a ceremony held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway honoring him. Power in his career has one season championship under his belt, one Indy 500 win, 35 wins overall, and 54 poll positions. Believed to be one of IndyCar’s greatest drivers, Power is only 37 years old and is believed to have many more years of racing ahead of him.
