The Boys’ Tennis Team chasing history

The Eagles tennis team began the season with the best start in the Coach Roush era with a 12-1 start. Dropping a conference match to WIC tennis powerhouse Northview, the chances of the Eagles winning the WIC conference title is low despite the successful season so far. “We have the full potential to win 20 matches this season.”

In week seven the Eagles stand at a healthy 19-2 and a secured second place in WIC. On October 1st, the Eagles play their final regular season match against White River Valley Senior High School. If the Eagles pick up a win against WRV, this season will be the  first 20-win season in school history.

When looking at what makes this season so different than the previous seasons, Captain Aaron McCann stated, “I feel like we are more experienced than all of the teams that we’ve played.”
With six of the seven players on the varsity roster being upperclassmen, the Eagles are definitely usually the team with more experience. The Eagles improvements don’t just come from practicing in the regular season. Five out of the seven varsity players play tennis year round and play tournaments in the off season.

In sectionals, the Eagles will face the winner of Columbus East and the powerful Columbus North Bulldogs who have 41 of the past 42 of the past sectionals.
