Two members of the girls’ cross country team and one member of the boys’ team are advancing to the semi-state cross country meet after all three of them performed well in the regional meet. Despite the individual efforts, the girls’ team did not place. The boys’ team placed 8th but will not move on as a team.
The girls’ team was short a runner on Saturday’s meet. All-conference runner Anna Fleetwood did not compete due to the coach’s decision. Missing their teammate, that did not affect Freshman Hadley Gradolf and Junior Eme Koester’s performances. In the 82 runner field, Gradolf placed 3rd with a 19:13.1 time. Koester finished 18th with a time of 20:29.5.
On the boy’s side of things, Freshman Chase Austin is the only runner to advance to the semi-state meet. Austin finished 13th out of the 86 runner field with a time of 16:15.5. Austin was only .1 seconds short of finishing 12th. Rafe Silbaugh had the second-best time for the Eagles. Silbaugh ran a time of 17:32.5 and placed 38th in the race.
These three runners will be ready to run in the upcoming semi-state meet on Saturday, October 26th. The meet will be held at Eagle Park, their home course.
