Halloween, in Nashville, is an event many look forward to. There are an array of events occurring this year:
Friendly Forest: an event held by the Jackson Township fire station, 4831 Helmsburg Road, 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27. Games from 5 to 7 p.m. (corn shucking, popcorn eating, become a pirate) with prizes. Walk the kid-friendly forest 7 to 9 p.m. with hot dogs, chips, soda, candy, snacks, hot chocolate and coffee available. Costumes encouraged. $1 per child, adults free with a child. Salt Creek Trick or Treat Trail: held at the Salt Creek Trail, between Brown County YMCA and CVS from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Visit candy stations ran by volunteers along the three-quarter-mile paved path, costumes encouraged. Cordry Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Dept. Haunted Forest: held at Sweetwater Beach, 6786 Sunset Dr, Nineveh, IN 46164, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Oct. 25 and 26. Refreshments and fun on the hayride to the Haunted Trail is a volunteer effort by fire department members and community volunteers.
Fear Run at Deer Run: fundraiser event for Brown County Parks and Recreation ran by volunteers on Oct. 25 and 26 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Deer Run Park, 1001 Deer Run Lanes Nashville, IN 47448. It is a haunted trail, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Prices range from 5 to 7 dollars.
Hard Truth Hills Trick-or-Treating and Pumpkin Painting: event held by Hard Truth Hills, 418 Old State Road 26 Nashville, IN 47448, for the entire family on Oct. 31 7 to 9 p.m. Families are welcome for dinner or just to gather some candy and painting a pumpkin while making Halloween rounds.
Ghost Stories and Bonfire at the Village Pavilion: warm up by the fire at the Village Pavilion, Corner of Main and Jefferson Streets Nashville, IN 47448 on Oct. 31 7 to 9 p.m. for ghost stories, Halloween tales, and local legends free of cost.
Here Come the Mummies: embrace the Halloween spirit by going to the “Here Come the Mummies” concert held at the Brown County Music Center, 200 Maple Leaf Boulevard Nashville, IN 47448, from 8 to 11 p.m. on Oct. 26. Prices range from 25 to 35 dollars.
Halloween Pet Costume Contest: dress your pets up in their best costumes for a chance to win prizes, held at the Polly’s Dog Park, South end of Jefferson Street Nashville, IN 47448 on Oct. 26 from 3 to 4 p.m. free of cost.
Zombie Walk and Parade: the inaugural zombie walk and parade through the village of Nashville will be held on Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. All are encouraged to dress up in zombie fashion and walk in the parade free of charge.
Halloween Movies at the Playhouse: catch a spooky movie at the Brown County Playhouse, 70 South Van Buren Street Nashville, In 47448, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 27, 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 30, and 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 31. Prices range from 5 to 6 dollars.
