Brown County Community Foundation now accepting applications for Lilly Endowment Scholarship

The Brown County Community Foundation is now accepting applications online for the 2021 Lilly Endowment Scholarship Program. This program is open to all Indiana high school seniors residing in Brown County who plan to graduate by June 30, 2021.

According to the Lilly Endowment’s official website, the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is designed to “help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana, increase awareness of the beneficial roles in Indiana community foundations can play in their communities, and encourage efforts of Lilly Endowment Scholars to engage with each other and with their state leaders to improve quality of life in Indiana.” The goal of the program is to encourage Indiana’s most talented and high achieving students to pursue their post-secondary education in an Indiana college or university, and, ultimately, pursue careers in Indiana as well.

Key elements of the scholarship include full tuition and required fees for four years of full-time undergraduate study leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, plus up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment. This scholarship does not include room, board, or tracks expenses.

The Brown County Community Foundation will nominate one student from Brown County to receive the scholarship

Chloee Robinson is the 2020 Brown County Community Foundation Lilly Endowment Scholarship recipient. She states, “The Lilly Endowment Scholarship is a wonderful opportunity. It has allowed me to pursue my dreams without having to worry about the cost of college. Even though the application may seem daunting, I encourage everyone who is interested to apply. The scholarship is open to anyone at Brown County who is willing to give the application a shot– you never know what might happen!”

The deadline for the application is September 11, 2020, by 4:00.
