A lot of families around country think about football whenever they think about the fall months. Every major sport in the country has now been impacted by COVID-19. Now we can add another sport to that list, college football.
The NCAA Division I FBS level is home to the “Power 5” football conferences. The five include the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Pacific Athletic Conference(PAC-12), Big-12, and Big-10. Although the college football season is going relatively strong right now, it looks far different from last season.
The PAC-12 and Big-10 have postponed their seasons until later dates so university’s athletic staffs can have more time to plan for play during the pandemic. Many students may not know much about the PAC-12 but a lot of students should be familiar with the Big-10 conference.
The Big-10 conference is home to major Midwest universities like Indiana University, Purdue University, and Ohio State University just to name a few. In early November, the conference announced that each of the 14 teams will be playing an 8-game in conference regular season schedule beginning October 24th.
As of right now, no schools have released any of their plans for ticket sales to any of their games. This includes locals, students of the university, and regular season ticket holders. If you planned on going to any IU football games, this year may not be the year. COVID-19 has already taken so many sports seasons away but there is still hope for the college football season.
